December 22, 2011 - Viki Kroeger, CEO of DSS Sweeping Service, Inc. recently graduated from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Mentor-Protégé class of 2011. Designed in partnership with The Ohio Contractors Association (OCA) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), the ODOT Mentor-Protégé Program is designed to increase the availability and capacity of DBE firms in Ohio. This program pairs a caring, experienced mentor with a promising, ambitious, small, disadvantaged firm that is eager to compete in the Federal contracting marketplace and learn the ropes from a more experienced firm. The Mentor-Protégé Program taps into the power of networks and connections – but it brings new faces into the network, and builds new kinds of connections for small, minority-owned businesses. A successful mentor/protégé relationship allows the DBE firm to benefit from the knowledge and experience of the established firms.

Replacement costs for damaged pavement far exceeds the routine expense of sweeping. Correct management of storm water runoff is a significant factor for owners of parking areas today. Pavement sweeping is considered a Best Management Practice for storm water runoff. A comprehensive sweeping program helps to ensure that a business is doing all it can to minimize pollutions in its storm water runoff stream.
